Fiction is a term often associated with novels, short stories or feature films. However, this book introduces the term “fictionality” in order to demonstrate that fictionalised communication can also be found in for instance political speeches, documentaries and Facebook updates. Fictionality is employed both within and outside of traditional fictions as a means to achieve certain goals in real life.

Through analyses of different media texts it is illustrated how a sender can use fictionality strategically for self-representation, political spin, societal criticism, and as a tool to develop the art and culture scene, which have been increasingly medialised.

This book is directed at students instructed in Danish, literature or culture and media at long or medium long educations. Furthermore, it will be of interest to high school and seminar teachers in relation to interdisciplinary collaborations.
